The Pigtail Harness # 7894 will allow you to wire in your Draw-Tite Activator brake controller on your 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. You will need a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 to provide you with the wiring needed to power the brake controller as well as carry power for the 7-way charge line and the brake controller output wire. I have linked an installation video below that will help walk you through the install process.
I recommend upgrading to the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR as it will include its own pigtail harness as well provide much better braking. This controller is capable of proportional braking and includes a small control knob rather than the bulky controller that gets in the way and is hard to adjust. Proportional braking adjusts the amount of power sent to the trailer brakes for soft and and hard braking. This will save you from having to reach down and adjust the power output manually.
