Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2009 Silverado 4x4

Question:

What is the recommended transmission cooler size for my 2009 Silverado 4x4 with a 5.3L engine, 4 speed automatic, 3.73 differential ratio? I am pulling a travel trailer with a dry weight of 4,800#. Loaded weight is approximately 6,000#.

The best way to determine the correct size for a transmission cooler install would be to measure the available space in front of your radiator and pick the biggest one that will fit there.

The Transmission Cooler # D13502 that you referenced measures 11 inches wide by 7-1/4 inches tall. This is a pretty large cooler that should work well for you, but if you wanted to go slightly bigger and to an even more efficient design check out the Derale Stacked Plate Cooler # D13403.

Stacked plate coolers are the most efficient design and would work the best for you especially considering how heavy your trailer is. I would also recommend you consult your owners manual to determine your towing capacities and be sure not to exceed that figure.
