Can Inno Roof Rack Crossbars for 2013 Toyota Prius Be Installed Further Apart

Question:

I am very interested in your square bar bare roof rack system for the 2013 Toyota Prius. I plan to use the system with a tandem kayak as well as plumbing pipe unorthodox, I know. Is there a specific reason the two crossbars must be a set distance apart from each other and forward/back on the car? I would like to place them as far apart as possible for added stability for my longer loads but want to know what the possible effects are of that. Thank you for any insight you may have!

The Inno square bar roof rack for your 2013 Toyota Prius is an excellent choice for a simple, yet effective roof rack. Each roof rack manufacturer tests the different points of strength on the vehicle and they base the locations of the feet and fit kits off of where the vehicle is strongest. So while you can technically attach the crossbars wherever you want to, the fit kits are only designed for specific spots on the vehicle and if you move them you'll be dealing with unknown weight ratings.

The parts you'll need for this rack include the following:

50" Square Crossbars - # INB127
Inno Feet - # INSUT
Fit Kit - # INK865

If you don't already have a kayak carrier I recommend checking out the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 which comes with everything you need to secure the kayak to your roof and it has a weight capacity of 150 lbs which should be sufficient for your kayak.

We possibly have some other parts you can use to secure the plumbing but I'd need to know a little more about the parts to make a recommendation.

Attached is a video of the etrailer carrier for you to check out.
