Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Using a Base Plate Kit Compatible w/ Blue Ox Tow Bars

To dingy tow (flat tow) your 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK you will need at least 5 main parts. Those parts being a base plate kit (which you already have), a tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system.

Since you already have a base plate kit that is compatible with Blue Ox tow bars, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380. This tow bar is a non-binding design that is compatible with your base plate kit and includes the safety cables, so you will not need to get those separately.

The Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-1676-7 is compatible with your Jeep and will provide you with everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your Jeep. You will also need to disconnect your battery when flat towing, using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 makes that a much simpler process.

The choice between a portable and fixed braking system is a decision of preference. With the portable system, the install is easier and it provides the ability to change between vehicles or take it with you when you purchase a new vehicle. A fixed system is going to be a more difficult installation, but it is going to allow you to not have to set-up or remove the braking system every time you flat tow your Jeep.

Personally I prefer the fixed system unless you plan to switch between different cars or you anticipate getting a new vehicle.
