How To Measure For Safety Chains On a Small Boat Trailer
Question:
How long should the Safety chain be for a Honda CR V with a Dilly Small Boat trailer?

Expert Reply:
To determine the correct safety chains for your Honda CR-V towing your Dilly boat trailer you will need to consider a few things. First if you are using a Breakaway Switch # HM20060 or have a Surge Actuator # DM62VR you will need to measure the length for this to ensure it will operate with the chains attached.
With the trailer connected you will need to measure the minimum length needed as well to ensure you do not get chains that are to short or interfere with turning. If you do not have any braking system on the trailer this is the only step needed.
Here are a few different lengths available that you can consider with each chain having a weight rating of 5,000lbs
24" Long Safety Chain # TCTSCG30-724-03x1
30" Long Safety Chain # TCTSCG30-730-03x1
36" Long Safety Chain # TCTSCG30-736-04x1
