Recommended Ball Mount For Towing a U-Haul Trailer With a Vehicle Receiver Height of 23"
Question:
The trailer receiver in my suv is 23” tall. The uhaul trailer I will be pulling in a few months are said to be 18.5” tall. The trailer 5’x8’ will have about 500 pounds of equipment in it and I will be driving about 600 miles with it. Would I be ok with a hitch that has only a 2 inch drop or should I buy something to make it as level as possible. Is making the trailer level more important with heavy loads or is it something to always pay attention to? Thanks

I recommend using the Curt Fusion Ball Mount # C45154 for towing the U-Haul trailer with your SUV. This ball mount has a 4" drop to help level the trailer. It is important to level the trailer as best as possible when towing. Having the trailer level will help reduce the chances of the contents moving around and will help prevent damage to the trailer if the rear of the trailer is to close to the ground. It can also prevent you from being able to back into some driveways on hills if the rear of the trailer is too low.
