Why Doesn't 2 Bike Add On for Thule T2 Pro Affect Weight Capacity of Rack
Question:
If my bike rack can only handle 120 lbs. how can it handle the additional weight of the extra two bikes and hitch extender?

Expert Reply:
The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-bike rack # TH83JV weighs 52 lbs alone. When used with the 2-bike add-on # TH9036XT, the now 4-bike rack weighs a total of 96 lbs. The total weight of this setup is not a direct part of the it's weight capacity. Worth mentioning is that the capacity isn't just the shank or the frame of the rack and is instead also including the hooks that hold the wheels as well as the wheel hoops and the straps.
