Does 18" Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Affect Tongue Weight Capacity
Question:
Hello, I have a f250 and a 36 ft TT with ~875 tongue weight. I purchased the 18” equalizer shank EQ90-02-4500 so I can open my tailgate. Question is, does the longer shank CHANGE the tongue weight at all? That is, is my tongue weight of my travel trailer going to be higher than the 875lbs?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4500 won't change the actual tongue weight but it can affect the capacity as it's limited to 1,400 lbs. That said, so long as you are not over this then you'll be fine.
