Recommended 7-Way Kit And Brake Controller For A 2000 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Hello, I have a 2000 tundra and would like to know if the Redarc RED44FR and ETBC7 set up is the best for my vehicle. Would the HM47180 be a better connector? Travel trailer is 5k in weight, single axle. Early Tundras were know for lousy brakes.

Expert Reply:
I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 instead of the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 4-Way Flat to 7-Way RV Trailer Adapter w/ 4-Way Vehicle End Plug # HM47180, reason being is that # ETBC7 already comes with the wiring and the relays needed to complete installation, whereas # HM47180 will also require the:
- Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506.
Either of these options will work great with your 2000 Toyota Tundra as well as the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR.
