Parts Needed to Add 7-Way and Brake Controller To a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV With 4-Way Flat
Question:
I had a tow package installed on my 2018 Outlander PHEV, but there was confusion about the wiring. The dealer only installed a 4 pin connector. I need a 7 pin for my trailer with electric brakes. The dealer made it sound like there is no part available for my vehicle with the 7 pin. What are my options?

We have the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 that will allow you to install a 7-way and brake controller on your 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. I do not see an aftermarket option that is plug and play for your Outlander. You will be able to plug in the 4-Way # C59496 the dealer would have installed into the 7-way that comes with the kit. And run the additional wiring for the charge line and brake controller with the components that come with the kit.
I recommend installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR with the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-002. This will give you a factory look that installs into one of the factory knock outs for accessories.
