Aftermarket Roof Rack Recommendation for Heavy Kayak on 2016 Ford Escape with Raised Rails

Question:

2016 Ford Escape with roof rack, crossbars, and pano sunroof I am wondering what is the best option to haul a 12 foot kayak weighing approximately 70 pounds. My OEM crossbars are only rated to hold 45 pounds because of the pano sunroof. Any help would be appreciated.

According to my research your 2016 Ford Escape with the OEM roof rack has raised rails so you can easily switch to an aftermarket roof rack with a higher weight rating. I recommend picking up the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack because it's easy to use, looks really sleek, and is really durable. Here are the parts you'll need:

53" WingBar Evo Crossbars - # TH711420
Evo Raised Rail Feet - # TH710401
Lock Core Kit - # TH450400 (optional)

This roof rack has a weight rating of 150 lbs so it will be more than capable of handling your 70 lb kayak. If you don't already have a kayak carrier I recommend checking out the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 for a cost-effective option or the Malone SeaWing Kayak Carrier and Load Assist w/ Tie-Downs # MPG113MD for something that helps make loading your heavy kayak easier.

Attached are review videos for you to check out.
