Weight Capacity and How Dexter DX7.5L Brake Actuator Installs on Trailer Frame

Question:

My boat trailer has a GVWR of 3520. Is this coupler good for “up to” 7500 lbs? Does it mount to the end of the trailer frame tube? This verses a coupler that mounts on top of the trailer frame tube? I was unable to locate a picture of this coupler, with the four bolt holes on the end, mounted to a trailer. My current coupler is a top mount. Am I able to replace the top mount with an “in-line” mount like this one? Thank you

Yes, the Dexter Axle Brake Actuator Coupler part # DX56FR is good for towing a trailer up to 7,500 lbs so it would easily work on yours rated for up to 3,520 lbs. This will fit on a straight tongue that is measures 3 inches wide by 5 inches tall. This would fit on top of your current tongue as well and installs by bolting on. Installing it in place of a top mount style coupler would be no problem.
