Recommended Tires To Replace 205/70/15 Tires On 4,000lb Camper
Question:
I have a 1978 fleetwood prowler camper and it has the old dexter style 4lug hubs with a 205/70/15 tire I’m going to swap out the hubs and put a 5 lug studded hub on what size tire should I run on the camper it ways around 4K lbs and is there a wheel and tire combo.

I'd recommend staying as close in size as possible to the 205/70/15 tires you currently have installed to ensure that you won't run into clearance issues.
I recommend taking a look at the ST205/75R15 Wheel and Tire Combo # WST44FR which will only take up about 1/2" additional clearance between the tire and the bottom of the fender compared to what you currently have so this shouldn't cause any issues. This combo has a 2,150lb capacity so it'll have no issues supporting your 4,000lb trailer, and the radial tire will be perfect for highway driving due to being able to stay cooler than older bias ply style tires.
This combo uses the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern which is more than likely what your new hubs have, but if you have a different bolt pattern just let me know and I'd be happy to make a different wheel recommendation if needed.
