Yes you can absolutely use a Blue Ox Tow Bar like the Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount # BX4375 with your Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, you will just need an adapter to adapt the tow bars to the base plate.
I took a look at what Roadmaster Base Plates are offered for your vehicle, and it appears you'll have either the:
- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 3154-3,
Or the,
-Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 3154-1.
With that being said, the proper adapter needed for the # 3154-1 is the:
-Blue Ox Tow Bar to Roadmaster Standard, EZ and XL Base Plates Adapter # BX88178,
And for the # 3154-3 base plate, the correct adapter is # BX88185.
Additionally, if you are interested in a complete flat tow setup, you're also going to need a braking system like the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 as well as a wiring kit like # RM-152-98146-7.
Finally, a stop light switch kit may also be needed, but in order to determine if it is needed or not you will have to turn the vehicle on and put the vehicle in the tow position and check to see if the brake lights work or if they are overridden.
If they do not work, then you are going to need the:
-Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - GM Pickups/SUVs w/Adjustable Pedals # RM-751220 if your Avalanche has adjustable pedals, or if it doesn't, then you can use # RM-751421.
