Can Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire Be Safely Used at 80 Psi

Question:

Can these tires be run at 80psi? My jayco travel trailer I would like to upgrade from a E rated tire to an F but I am unsure of my aluminum wheels psi rating. Evaluating the back side of the rims there is no max psi ratings stamped into the rim.

I recommend running the Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range F # AM10501 at the full 110 psi rating on the sidewall. Some tire manufacturers will have psi vs weight capacity progression charts but Kenda doesn't so you want to stick with the psi rating found on the sidewall otherwise you'll be operating at an unknown weight rating since they haven't tested for it.

According to me research trailer wheels should be able to handle the psi rating of any tire that fits them unless indicated on the wheel itself - and even then those will typically be updated accordingly as trailer tire manufacturers come out with new fits. The thing you'll want to pay attention to is the valve stem. Only metal valve stems like part # AM20906 can handle psi ratings over 100 so if your current wheels have a rubber valve stem then you'll need to upgrade those as well.
