The etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 is a great option when you do not know the height for the trailer coupler. This kit will come with 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8" hitch ball , 2" hitch ball, carrying case and 2 receiver hitch pins. The ball mounts have different rise and drop measurements allowing you to match them as close as possible to keep your trailer level.
With the Curt Receiver # 13077 on a 2015 BMW X5 in our shop we measured the receiver height at 15". The ball mounts above will give you a 2-3/4" rise, 3/4" rise, 2" drop or 4" drop. That will allow you to fit trailer coupler heights of 17-3/4" to 11" tall.
The Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set # 3794DAT will allow you secure your boat trailer to your X5 if you will be leaving it parked at the boat ramp for long periods of time. It also comes with a storage lock if you need to leave your trailer.
