Helpful Expert Reply:
The Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator # K71-650 that you referenced is NOT designed to work with the factory controller on your 2010 Chevy Silverado. In order to use the Dexter actuator a compatible controller such as the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 needs to be installed. The P2 is designed to work with electric over hydraulic brake systems.
The Dexter actuator also requires a minimum 9 amp/hour breakaway kit like Dexter # 34-285.
The wiring connections for the Dexter # K71-650 are as follows:
Yellow - Cold side of breakaway switch, this wire that goes hot when a breakaway occurs.
Black - Positive connection on breakaway switch, this wire charges the breakaway battery.
Blue - Output from in cab controller, this wire provides power from your brake controller.
White - Ground.
You must have the yellow wire attached to the breakaway unit for it to function when a breakaway occurs.
I have attached two FAQ articles. One covers specific installation instructions for GM full size trucks and the other is a brief installation video on 2008 Silverado, which is the same generation as your 2010.
