Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Lights Not Working After Installation of LED Lights on 2017 Jeep JK

Question:

I recently installed aftermarket LED tail lights on my 2017 Jeep JK and noticed that I had to use a different harness behind the left rear tail light for them to work harness was already there I have a boat trailer with a 4 flat harness and regular lights that do not work now. Is this because the feed from my tail lights, which Im guessing is connected to my 4 flat harness is sending less voltage to the trailer thus resulting in no trailer lights? And would installing LED trailer lights fix my issue? Finally, do I need a different 4 flat harness on both the jeep and trailer to run the new boat trailer lights? Thanks kindly for your time.

The issue is definitely the new LED lights on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The old incandescent lights you had draw a lot more power, and it looks like the custom 4-way wiring available for your Jeep doesn't have a converter box. With the addition of the LED lights you will need a wiring harness with a powered converter like the # 119250KIT.

You could potentially fix the issue with the installation of LED trailer lights but there is no guarantee. Also, if you chose to tow another trailer you may still run into the same issue so it would be better to take care of it on the vehicle side.
