Can you make a recommendation for a controller, I have a 2004 Chevy Sub 1500. Nothing fancy.

Brake controllers come in two basic types, proportional and time-delayed. Proportional controllers apply the trailer brakes in proportion to the braking force in the tow vehicle while time-delay types apply a pre-set amount of braking. Time delay units are less costly and easiest to install but can result in uneven brake wear between the tow vehicle and trailer brakes. The linked article will cover much of this background information. For frequent towing we always suggest a proportional controller.
Among the most popular and reliable models is the Tekonsha P2, part # 90885. This unit works with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes and can work with as many as 4 axles (up to 8 brake assemblies). The link provided will take you to our main page for brake controllers where you can see this unit and others. Filters at the left hand side of the page allow you to sort results based on your preferences.
In the drop-down menu at the top of the page (Select Vehicle Style) you can indicate whether or not your Suburban has a factory 7-way trailer connector. If not you will also need part # 30955.
