What To Do With A Frozen Lock Core In Thule Weekender Cargo Box

Question:

I purchased a used Thule Weekender cargo box without a key. The seller told me I didn’t need it as the box still closed and latched. It seemed to work every time I closed it until… vacation. I filled the box, drove 100 miles and it won’t open. The lock mechanism won’t push in. I’m hoping it’s just jammed and there’s a way to get it to push in again without a key. Everything I see online is about removing the lock. I’m hoping to avoid that. Is this a common issue? Are there any other solutions that don’t involve the universal key or drilling the lock out?

The Universal Change Key for Thule One Key Locks # 853-1251 that you're looking at will only work with unlocked lock cores that have a code beginning with N or E.

Since you said your locked out, your only options are to have a locksmith come take a look at it, or you can drill the core out and replace the core yourself.

From here, you can use the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450200 to replace the old frozen lock cores.

I know it's not what you had hoped, however this is the only option.
