Could Fifth Wheel Hitch Permanently Attach to Cab and Chassis 2006 Ford F-350
Question:
Hello, I have a 2006 F350 DRW 4wd cab and chassis. I also have a Reese M5 fifth wheel to mount on the truck. The base of the mount aligns directly with the trucks frame rails, sitting on top perfectly. My question is, can it be mounted directly to the chassis?

Expert Reply:
Mounting a hitch directly to the frame rails of a cab and chassis truck like your 2006 Ford F-350 is probably possible but there is a simpler solution using a universal fifth wheel rail kit like the Reese # RP30035 which you'd use the included brackets to attach to the frame of your truck and then you'd attach the included rails to them. These are the types of rails that the Reese M5 fifth wheel hitch part # RP30928 is designed to fit so it would install easily and you'd be able to remove it easily when not needed as well.
