Flat Tow Base Plates For 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak & Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

I have the RM-520 Falcon 2 tow bar that I use on my 2017 Ford CMax. I just received my 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak 4 Door. Can I use the same Falcon 2 tow bar on the Bronco and if so, what RM baseplate should I use?

We do indeed have base plates that fit your 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak that will allow you to use the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520. The correct fit will depend on if you have the standard factory bumper or have the optional Ford Performance Heavy-Duty Modular front bumper:

- Standard Front Bumper: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM79RR

- Ford Performance Heavy-Duty Modular Front Bumper: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM92ZR

These direct-connect base plates will work with your Falcon 2 tow bar and have removable arms so your Bronco maintains its factory aesthetic when you aren't flat towing. Along with the tow bar and base plates there are a number of other parts you'll need to flat tow if you don't have them, which I'll go ahead and list for you.

- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653

- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-1676-7

- Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000

- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR

- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR

I really like the diode wiring kit because it is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback, keeping your Bronco's electrical system safe, the charge line kit will keep your battery charged as it is being towed, and the stop light switch will allow the monitoring system of the Stay-IN-Play DUO to activate.

As for the Stay-IN-Play DUO, it is by far the best option for a braking system, and the reason for that is it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Bronco is going to get the same amount of braking power. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power, giving you a more comfortable and easier-to-control ride when flat towing.

The only other thing I recommend considering, to keep rocks and other debris from hitting your Bronco while you are flat towing it, is the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750.
