Can You Upgrade from 4.80x12 to 175/80-13 Tires On Boat Trailer  

Question:

Hi, I have a 14 jon boat on an appropriate trailer. The trailer has 4.80x 12 wheels on 5 lug wheels. I need advise on, 1. can i put a larger tire / wheel on the trailer? and 2. what is the best highwayradial? tire/ wheel that you have for sale that fits this? Going to do a 600 miles each way trip soon. Thanks

The next size up from a 4.80x12 is a 175/80-13 which will be around 2.6" larger in diameter and 1.6" larger in width. Therefore, you'll need to make sure you have the space for this new size, but please note the difference will be halved. For this, I recommend the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel part # AM31952 which has radial plies for longer highway trips and a galvanized wheel for use in water. It has a 5 on 4-1/2" pattern.
