Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 2021 Wildwood FSX 167 Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2016 tacoma with 2inch receiver, ability to tow 6400 lbs max, max payload of about 1,000 lbs, and gvwr of 5600. i currently have 2021 wildwood fsx 167rbkx travel trailer that has a dry weight of about 3,300 lbs with gvwr of 3885 and hitch weight of about 425, according to manufacturer. Clearly i can only have about 400 lbs of weight, so i estimate the max loaded depending on distribution to be about 500 lbs. Unsure if I will have additional cargo in truck, but Id estimate about 200-300 approximately additional. Given above information and room for scaling, would the FA92-00-0800 or FA92-00-0600 be a better choice? What hitch ball would i need also? Also the trailer came with a fastway e294-00-1000 that was attached in unknown condition, is this too much for my current set up? Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

With the different weight capacity's and potential cargo your Tacoma may be carrying, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control item # FA92-00-0800. This system has a tongue weight range of 400 lbs to 800 lbs. It has built in sway control that will keep your Wildwood FSX 167 Travel Trailer in line when you are driving down the highway.
You will need a hitch ball, but it depends on the size of your trailer's coupler. You will need either a 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286. If I had to guess based on the weight of your trailer you probably need a 2". This is something you can easily confirm by looking at your coupler.
I also recommend the Classic Accessories Tow Bar and Weight Distribution Tote item # CA80113. This heavy duty bag is perfect for storing your weight distributing hitch. It is 36" x 11" Wide x 8" Tall and has padding that prevents damage to your hitch and prevents dings to your vehicle's cargo area from shifting gear.
The Fastway e294-00-1000 your trailer has is overrated for your setup and will provide a very stiff ridged ride.
