Determining if 4.80R12 Trailer Tires Can Be Exchanged to 205/65-10

Question:

What are the advantages of going from a 4.80x12 trailer tire to a 20x6.50-10 trailer wheel? I know it will be a little lower and will turn faster. I want a meatier tire to give a better feel on the road.

First you will need to determine if you will be able to fit the Loadstar K399 Bias 205/65-10 Trailer Tire # AM1HP56 on your trailer as it is so much wider than your Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C. The 205/65-10 tire will only be 1/4" shorter in overall height but it will be approximately 3-1/2" wider. This width will be split approximately 1-3/4" on each side of your current wheel and tire. Also you will need to verify if the smaller 10" wheel will not have any fitment issues with your trailers hubs. It is recommended to have at least 1" of sidewall clearance and 3" of vertical clearance for the suspension to compress.
