Troubleshooting The Roadmaster EvenBrake That Will Not Sync To Monitor And Fails Test

Question:

when trying to sync transmitter and monitor, the even brake only depresses brake arm twice and test light stays red. manual states it should cycle 3 times. any ideas as to what I should try. Monitor say even brake testing and only way to clear the message is to unplug. All wiring is hooked up correctly and I have 12v when it depresses the brake pedal. Is there a process or something I’m missing?

I spoke with Roadmaster about this, and they said that the Roadmaster EvenBrake # RM-9410 is looking for voltage from both the EvenBrake & the ICX box, the programming, the brake away sway, & the dinghy vehicles brake switch.

If it is missing any of the checks, then it'll fail the test.

So, the first important thing to check is the signal that should be coming from the brake switch in the vehicle. This wire is connected to the # 1 spade terminal (shown in diagram) on the ICX. This should show voltage every time the brake pedal is depressed in the dinghy vehicle.

You can use a multimeter # PT29ZR to aid in this first troubleshooting step.

I have also attached a wiring diagram supplied by Roadmaster in regards to this issue. This is the first thing you need to check before we can move on to more in depth troubleshooting.
