Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 6,500 lbs Trailer
Question:
Hello all, I recently downsized to a 2012 22FB and really like it. I’m towing with a 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 now. I sold my weight distribution hitch with our previous camper. Do I need a WDH to safely to the 22FB? Based on my information I am easily within “trailer tow weight”. My concern is actual tongue weight when loaded. Can anyone advise?

It is recommended to use a weight distribution system when your trailer weight is 50% or more of the vehicle pulling its total weight. It looks like your 2012 Jayco Jay Flight 22 FB weighs right at 6,500 lbs when fully loaded. I strongly recommend the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BXW1006.
The SwayPro has a tongue weight range of 750 lbs - 1,000 lbs which will be perfect for your Jay Flight. The chain hanger brackets are the easiest way to hook up a weight distribution system. This system includes a 2" shank that will give you plenty of options to adjust the height so your trailer and truck are level.
