Troubleshooting Running Lights Not Working On 5TH Wheel Camper When Connected To 2013 Ford F-250

Question:

All signals and break light work, it is just the running lights. We have checked all fuses and relays, cleaned connections, etc. without any results. We have plugged the trailer into one of our other trucks and lights work fine. Is there an easy way to check for a loose or bad wire in the wiring harness, and do you sell any quick connect replacement wiring for this problem?

First if you are using a connector like the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 41157, try connecting to the bumper connection to determine if the Connector # A10-7072VP in the bed side is bad. You can also remove the additional harness by connecting the factory harness directly to the rear bumper connection to determine if the harness itself is bad.

If those tests fail or you do not have the harness to begin with, you will want to remove the factory connector from the 7-way connector to check for any visibly damaged pins or pins that are missing. Looking at the Ford connector it will be the wire closest to the right side of the connector(see image). You can also test this with your Test Light # PTW2993 to ensure if the connector has power when disconnected. Then follow the factory harness as far as you can on the truck testing for power on this circuit to determine if there is a break/short in the wiring.
