Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2021 Kia Soul w/ Manual Transmission Behind a Motorhome w/ Air Brakes
Question:
Our Motorhome has air brakes. There’s a fitting at the hitch that is probably from the brakes. A proportional braking system utilizing the coach sir seems like the best system. But I don’t know which one. I can also use help indentifying all of the parts needed to flat tow.

We can help you out with that! The best air brake supplemental braking system is the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243. This truly proportional braking system uses the air pressure from your RV's brakes to apply the brakes in your Kia Soul. The low profile design installs out of your way and is always at the ready.
To flat tow your 2021 Kia Soul you will need at least 4 main parts other than the braking system above. Those parts being a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables and tow bar wiring. I have listed those out for you below, along with a brief description of their purpose.
Base Plate Kit:
- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521643-5
This is a custom fit part that will provide the necessary attachment points for the tow bar.
Tow Bar:
- Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676
This is what will come from your motorhome and attach to the base plate kit. This tow bar is compatible with the above base plate kit and includes the safety cables, so you will not need to pick them up separately.
Tow Bar Wiring:
- Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154
This diode Kit allows you to use your Kia Soul's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV.
You many also need additional parts like a high low adapter to keep your tow set-up level. I have included a help article that helps you determine if an adapter is needed. I have also linked our selection of high low adapters, so that you can select the correct one if one is need.
You will want to check the owners manual for your 2021 Kia Soul to ensure that you are doing everything that is required/recommended by the manufacturer.
