Can You Attach Mounting Brackets to Extension of Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket
Question:
When mounting the Thule Canyon XT with extension is it necessary to mount using the front and rear section to the cross bars or can you substitute mounting the middle extension piece to the cross bar?

Good question, but the mounting brackets must attach to the front and rear section - and not the extension - of the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT-8591XT.
I verified this with Thule, and the reason is this allows for the most secure attachment to your vehicle's crossbars, with the most balanced distribution of the basket's weight.
