Troubleshooting Voltage Drop In Tail Light Wiring

Question:

I am only getting 11. 2 V for all tail, brake, turn lights even though 12.4 V is leaving light switch. I changed out the 3 to 2 converter. Any suggestions?

Voltage drop like you are experiencing is typically caused by restrictions in wiring. This could be with the power wires going to the lights or with the ground connection. I recommend tracing the wiring looking for any points where the wiring may be damaged that would identify the possibility of voltage not getting to pass freely through the wiring. You will also want to check your ground connections. Some Dielectric Grease # 11755 can be used on your connections to help prevent corrosion which will also limit the voltage going through the connections.

Finally check any fuses/circuit breakers and ensure they are the correct size for the wiring and lights.
