Constant Power on Blue Wire of Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
I have a Curt Triflex controller on my Ram 1500 and it has worked fine for past 7 years. Now the trailer brakes dont come on when pedal is depressed or when I use the manual slide on the controller. I cut the blue line coming out of the controller and checked the voltage - it gave various readings without either pushing the brake pedal or the manual slide. Same with pushing the pedal and the slide. After connecting it back together I checked the trailer brake pin on the vehicle connector and it reads 12V without pushing the pedal or operating the slide. Do you have any idea what is going on here?

If the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV shows power on the blue wire without the brake pedal depressed or the manual override engaged then the unit is defective and needs to be replaced. For this, you could go with the same model or upgrade to the Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller part # C49UR which is their newest model and uses the same plug.
I have also attached the owner's manual of the TriFlex below if further troubleshooting is needed.
