Malone AirFlow Roof Rack That Fits 2005 Subaru Outback with Raised Rails

Question:

I received the following response: Malone has an AirFlow2 roof rack that fits the OEM bars of your 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon with the part # MPG216 but the longer bar set you mentioned would not work as the feet of the rack would not be able to be set inward far enough to fit the rails of your vehicle. I have no idea what this means: would not work as the feet of the rack would not be able to be set inward far enough to fit the rails of your vehicle. Also if the bars Im interested would not work, which ones would?

The feet of the crossbars attach to a channel that runs along the bottom of the bar. This channel does not go all the way across the bar as it only goes partially inward on both sides of it. This means that you can't attach a super long bar to a narrower set of roof rails since the feet of the bars won't be able to slide far enough inward to match the distance between the rails. The part # MPG216 that I mentioned is a confirmed fit for the raised rails of your vehicle and would be a for sure fit.
