Will RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack Fit 2014 Toyota Prius With EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch

Question:

Will a Rockymounts Monorail bike rack for 2inch receiver clear the back of my 2014 Prius when in the stowed position? The Rockymounts dimension chart shows a distance from the center of the hitch pin to the front of the rack, when stowed, of 4.25. There would need to be additional clearance so there is a gap between the rack and the back of the car of about 1inch or so. Put another way what is the distance between the center of the hitch pin and the rear of the vehicle?

Yes, you will have enough clearance to fold up the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack # RKY10004 using the EcoHitch # 306-X7178 on your 2014 Prius. We have not yet had a chance to install this hitch on a Prius so we do not have the measurement from the hitch pin to the rear of the vehicle.

However, we do know that the Thule T2 # TH83JV will fit on the back and fold up with plenty of clearance. This has a very similar design to the MonoRail with about 3/4" of additional clearance from the hitch pin to the closest part of the bike rack. Based on this I am confident that you will also have plenty of clearance with the # RKY10004 folded up on the back.

I have attached a photo showing the Thule rack installed on a Prius with the EcoHitch for your reference.
