When it comes to installing a 7 way connector on your 2014 BMW 3 Series I recommend The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. To run this application though you will also have a 4 way flat connector installed on your vehicle like The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT.
The ETBC7 will make it to where you can activate your trailer brakes when using a brake controller. The # ETBC7 will plug directly into the 4 flat connector and come with 4 additional wires needed to finish the install. The function of each wire is listed below.
Black - 12 Volt Hot Lead
Blue - Electric Brake
White - Ground
Yellow - Reverse Lights
This will also give you the ability to run a brake controller. The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # TK90160 can run up to 3 axles. Using this brake controller will activate your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action.
I attached a couple review video links below.
