Can I Use the Hydrastar HBA16 to Replace the HBA-10 Actuator?
Question:
Can I use the Hydrastar HBA-16 as a direct replacement for an HBA-10? Does it have the same footprint/mounting-hole pattern? Can it use the same controller? My HBA-10 is non-functional and I cant seem to find HBA-10s in stock anywhere, but there are several HBA-16s out there. Would appreciate your wisdom!

You could use the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator item # HBA16 instead of the item # HBA-10 but it will eventually blow out the seals on your drum brakes. The item # HBA16 has an identical footprint but it is designed to be used with disc brakes which require a higher PSI. The # HBA16 has a 1,600 PSI over the # HBA-10 which has a 1,000 PSI. It can be used with the same brake controller. There is no way to turn down the PSI. You may be able to install a pressure reducer valve to drop the pressure down to what is needed for the drum brakes.
