Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus Behind a 2021 Allegro Bus Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus with the 2.7L engine, AWD. Could you give me a complete system for flat towing it behind my 2021 Allegro Bus? I would like the AirForce One SM99243, the Raodmaster baseplate and tow bar. I also need the correct wiring to include a battery charging line. I live in Fredericksburg, VA and would like to have the entire system installed professionally so, who does that?

I can definitely help you out with this. To tow your 2020 Lincoln Nautilus behind your 2021 Allegro Bus you will need at least 5 main parts (Base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring and supplemental braking system). I have listed these parts out below, along with a brief description of their purpose and a recommendation.

Base Plate Kit: This is a custom fit part that allows for proper attachment points on your Nautilus to use a tow bar. I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524461-5 which is made in the USA and has a limited lifetime warranty.

Tow Bar: This is what will come from the motorhome and attach to the base plate kit. I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676. This tow bar is made in the USA, has a limited lifetime warranty, is compatible with the above base plate kit and it includes the safety cables which means you will not need to get them separately.

Tow Bar Wiring: This is what will allow you to use your Lincoln Nautilus's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154. You will also need the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 for installation.

Supplemental Braking System: This is what will allow you to safely travel with and stop your Nautilus behind your motorhome. Since you mentioned wanting to use the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # SM99243 that means that you have air brakes on your motor home and this is the best option in that scenario.

For a battery charge line you can use the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25. If no charge line is already present in your motorhome then you will also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75.

You may also need a high-low adapter to keep your tow set-up level. I have attached an article that goes over how to determine this and a link to our high-low adapter selection so that you can select the one that is right for you. You will also want to be sure that you check your Nautilus's owners manual to ensure you are following all recommendations and requirements for flat towing.

You can contact your local RV dealer and service shops about installation of your flat tow set-up.
