Recommended Options For Hauling Two E-Bikes And A Carbon Fiber Frame Bike On A Travel Trailer

Question:

I have two e bikes and a carbon fiber bike that I would like to take on longer trips. I have a Grand Design 315RLTS and it has a 2 inch receiver hitch. I am looking for a rack to hold the three bikes understanding I would need to keep the e bikes close to the RV and the carbon fiber or lighter bike on the outer most position. Any thoughts how I can accomplish this?

There are a few other factors that go into the compatibility of a bike with the application. Since you'll be using the bike rack on your Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS you'll need one rated for use on a travel trailer. You'll also need to ensure that the bike rack is rated for the weight of the e-bikes.

Most 3 or 4 bike racks have a per bike weight capacity of 35-40lbs so an e-bike can quickly exceed the capacity of most racks. Most e-bike racks only fit 2 bikes for this reason. You are correct though that you should have the heavier bikes closer to the hitch with the lighter bike furthest out.

Currently the only bike rack we have that's rated for use on a travel trailer with a heavy enough weight capacity is the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric FAT PRO Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # LGA77FR. This rack only allows for two bikes to be carried so we would need to look into some other options to haul your carbon frame bike.

If you could provide the year/make/model of your tow vehicle we could look at possible roof bike racks, a front mounted hitch and single bike rack designed for carbon frame bikes, or a ladder rack if you have a truck.
