Recommended 89 Inch 3,500 lb Axle & 5-Lug Idler Hubs For Boat Trailer

Question:

I have an older shore lander trailer 3,500 lbs I think. I need a new axle with idler hubs included. My leaf springs are mounted above the axle not below the axle. 89 and 5 lug. what axle do you recommend? Do you need additional information?

We do have exactly what you need, an 89 inch (hub face to hub face) 3,500 lb axle and accompanying idler hubs. I do recommend getting the idler hubs separate, as that way you can get galvanized hubs since you have a boat trailer. So the axle and idler hubs that fit the bill are the following:

- Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with Standard Spindles - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # T3584F-8974

- Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-K

I also recommend using new U-bolts for mounting, the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 3,500-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 5-1/2" Long U-Bolts # APUBR-1.

The only thing to keep in mind is you also need to make sure you have the same spring center to spring center measurements on your axle, and that measurement on the # T3584F-8974 is 74 inches (see diagram below). If your spring centers are different, you can always have new ones welded on at the spot you need, the Spring Seat # TRSS238.
