Can I Use a Yakima BackSwing on a Dual Hitch Adapter?

Question:

Good afternoon. I have a Sprinter chassis with a 2 hitch. I have a dual hitch adapter. Bottom is used for towing my tow-vehicle using a blue ox tow bar. Upper is used for my bike rack. The bike rack blocks the access of the tow bar folding and unfolding. I am wondering if I can add a swing away arm to the upper opening so that I can swing away the bike rack and provide the required access for the blue ox tow bar to fold and unfold. But, I am concerned I am adding too many components and thus lowering my capacity. Thanks as always!

The Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks item # Y02483 only weighs 35 lbs and would allow you to swing your bike rack out of the way. Since you are on a sprinter chassis and not considered a mobile home you would be able to use this with your dual hitch adapter. You would just need to make sure the extra 35 lbs would not put you over your maximum tongue weight capacity on your van, hitch, or ball mount. I have linked a diagram below that will give you the dimensions of this adapter so you can confirm it will not interfere with your flat towing set up.
