For an amazing hitch for your 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X model, I recommend the Curt Hitch - 2" # C13182. Not only does this hitch come with 600 pounds of maximum tongue weight and 6,000 pounds of gross towing capacity, it also comes with a superior coating that provides you with more protection against rust/corrosion than our other brands. The installation process is super simple and only takes about 30 minutes to complete. I confirmed with Curt that this hitch is 100% compatible with a Limited X model.

As far as wiring, you need either the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118727 (if you do not have a tow package) or the # 118384 (if you have a tow package). With these harnesses, you will have basic brake light, turn signal, and running light functions for your trailer.

If you have a trailer that has brakes, you need an additional 7-way harness to prep your vehicle for a brake controller. That harness is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers # ETBC7. With this harness, you will splice-in the wiring to your current wiring.

For a recommendation for a brake controller, I recommend using the Curt Echo # C51180. This controller simply plugs into your 7-way plug and syncs to your Smart device. From your phone, you can control all of the settings from the inside your cab. As far as the braking type, the Echo has a proportional style that activates immediately when you push the brakes without the time-delay function of other controllers.

I went ahead and attached helpful installation videos of all of these products for you to check out.
