To use a Curt e16 fifth wheel hitch part # C16115 in the bed of a 2018 Nissan Titan XD SV short bed the first thing you'd need is the B and W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1217-5W and then to convert it to a standard set of fifth wheel rails you'd need the # 16310 which is what the E16 requires. Since this is only rail system we have that fits your truck there isn't a way to go without using the adapter. So instead you might consider using the Turnoverball rail kit I mentioned and a hitch that fits it directly instead with the Companion # BWRVK3500 which would give you a much nicer hitch solution with a smoother and quieter ride quality.
