How To Identify A Pin Box With No Identifying Tag Numbers

Question:

I bought a 2008 Forest river wildcat. After my new truck, 2022 Ram 3500 long bed, arrived I started looking at things more closely to figure out the adjustments on my BandW hitch. I realized that my pinbox appears to have been modified. It looks like the part with the bolt holes for mounting was cut off and extended by about 6 inches then welded back on. The distance from the center of the kingpin to the first row of bolt holes is 23.5 inches. I would like to know what pinbox it is supposed to have so that I can replace this with the proper length. I have 2 numbers neither is from the pin box both are on the frame where the pinbox mounts. The first is on a Lippert label, with a barcode. LCI-1070706930. The second is stamped on the frame. 4X4FWE258T009575. It looks like taking the 6 inches off would match up to the Lippert 1621, however, before I spend the money for one I am looking for some verification. Any help you could give me will be greatly appreciated. Randy Curtis

The numbers you've provided haven't come back with anything relatable to determining the pin box bolt pattern so I recommend following the steps listed in the attached article below. This will have you measure a few distances but we'll have to take into account the extra length that you stated was added onto the pin box.

If you could send me the measurements you get I'd like to go through them as well and ensure you're getting the correct fit the first time instead of purchasing a pin box and then realizing it doesn't fit.

That being said, the 1621 bolt pattern is the most widely used and would be replaceable with the Lippert 1621 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC1191191 you were looking at or another upgraded pin box.
