Chains for Weight Distribution System are Too Short for Tall Trailer Frame
Question:
I ordered this hitch and mocked it up to see how it all came together as seen in the attached image. However the problem is that the chains are too short compared to the old setup. It appears the bars may touch the trailer on turns and will be too tight. I was not able to hook a vehicle up that day but it looks like it still would touch under load. Do you have any suggustions or a longer chain i can order? Can i use quick links to extend it? I want to eventually order RP26002 the sway control system for this system.

In the picture, you have a tall trailer frame and that is the issue. You would not want to use the set up as-is because the chains are not long enough. Longer chains are not recommended because it will reduce the effectiveness of the system but what you can do is use the chain hangers, # RP58305, that will bolt to the side of the frame and give you the proper set up.
To achieve the required amount of tension for your weight-distribution systems spring bars using these chain hangers, you will need to jack up your trailer and tow vehicle with the trailer jack when hooking up the weight-distribution spring bars.
Also, the trailer frame looks aluminum. You will want to call the trailer manufacturer to make sure that you can use a weight distribution system on the aluminum frame.
The system you mentioned was replaced with # 49570 and friction far # 83660.
