Why is a Converter Needed to Add a Trailer Wiring Harness to a 2013 Infiniti JX35
Question:
Sorry for the dumb question, but what does the Curt Wiring adapter C56190 offer me over just splicing a 4 wire adapter into the tail and turn lights on an infinity JX35?

The wiring on your 2013 Infiniti JX35 is a bit more complicated than trailer wiring. It has separate turn signals and brake lights. But on a trailer the turn signals and brake lights are combined on each side. So a converter is needed to take the separate signals from the vehicle and combine them to the combined signals used by a trailer.
The converter box also offers a degree of circuit protection. If there was a short on the trailer it would fry the box and not the vehicle wiring/electronics.
If you go with Curt harness # C56190KIT, which comes with everything.
