Its a 2001 silverado trailer brake was hooked up the tail lights work, the brake lights work, but when you have the lights on and hit the brake the driver side brake light or tail light dont work it goes dark

Based on what you are describing this sounds like an issue with your ground. This issue is often caused by an insufficient ground or short to ground on your trailer or vehicle. Make sure your ground connections are secure on a clean, bare-metal surface. You can also inspect the ground wires to make sure there is not a short in the wire.
