As far as wiring for brakes when towing with your 2018 Ford F-150, your vehicle is fully prepped for a brake controller with the 7-way plug you have already. However, some brake controller have additional plug-in harnesses that are required depending on the controller model.
For example, if you purchase the Curt Echo # C51180, this controller does not require any additional plug-in wiring. This is why if you do not already have a controller, I recommend using this one. It also is completely wireless and is controlled by your smart device.
An example of a different controller that requires additional wiring is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR. This controller requires the plug-in harness # 331-TPH-007 that connects under your dashboard.
