What Should Trailer Tires be Inflated to on Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
I just purchased a used 16 ft livestock trailer which weighs about 3900 lbs. I will be transporting about 2600 lbs of cows about 100 miles. The tires are ST225/R75 15 on the rear axle and ST205/D75 15 on the front axle. What should the tire inflation be at? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
With trailer tires you need to keep them inflated to the max psi rating that's listed on the sidewall when cold. Your other issue is that you have different size tires on your axles which isn't the safest route to go. I would put ST225/75-15 on all the axles like with the Taskmaster Provider part # TR225LRE which has a high speed rating, a weight capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi and the highest speed rating.
