Best 7-Way Harness for a Curt Echo Brake Controller
Question:
I have a 1999 Lexus LX 470 with a 4-wire connector and a 7-wire connector. The 7-wire connector is currently connected as a 4-wire. If I were to purchase the Curt Echo, would this be all that is needed for trailer brake controller functionality? If not, what else would be required? Thank you!

To use the Curt Echo item # C51180 you will need a functional 7-Way connector not just a 4-way with an adapter. It sounds like your 1999 Lexus LX 470 doesn't have a functional 7-way so you will need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation item # ETBC7L. This connector is slightly different than a standard 7-way and works specifically with brake controllers like the Curt Echo. The Curt does not require a brake controller wire to be ran into the cab so this harness does not have one. It will save you time and a lot of hassle when you are doing the installation. I have linked an installation video below it is a universal connector so don't worry about it being on a different car. The install will be similar.
If you change your mind and want to install a traditional brake controller inside your Lexus you will want to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. This has the brake controller wire and will still work with a Curt Echo.
