Recommended DC To DC Battery Charger To Charge Lithium Trailer Batteries

Question:

I am pleased with how my 2018 Ram charges the lead batteries on my travel trailer , therefore maintaining my 12V refrigerator while driving, and not arriving at camp with discharged battery.. I want to upgrade to lithium 200ah battery and it was suggested that I get a DC to DC converter 10A? to provide proper Lithium charging voltage and protect against blowing fuses. Can you help with product ion and mounting placement?

For a simple DC to DC battery charger for your new lithium battery I recommend the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # RED96FR. This charger is compatible with AGM, gel, standard lead acid, calcium, and Lithium ion (LiFePO4) batteries and recommended for batteries rated for less than 75 amp-hours.

You will need a 23-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 12-Amp BCDC Battery Charger # RED76FR inline between the Ram battery and charger and the 30-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 12-Amp BCDC Battery Charger # RED86FR inline between the charger and your camper's lithium battery.

You can use the Universal Mounting Bracket for Redarc BCDC Battery Charger # RED53FR to mount the unit inside the engine bay of your Ram, where space allows.

As for wiring, you'll need to most likely use 8AWG wire if since you'll be running in the 16-30' range. If you have a farther length to go then you'll need to use a larger gauge wire to avoid any voltage drops.
